2O13, October
A group of Las Vegas burlesque performers and supporters, headed by Cha Cha Velour, launched the inaugural Las Vegas Burlesque Festival. For three glittery filled days the festival focused on filling a need in the city to celebrate and showcase budding burlesque talent as well as creating a space for local, national and international burlesque stars to perform and share their art. 70 performers from the local area and from around the globe converged on the entertainment capital of the word. They helped to create Las Vegas’ very first home grown burlesque festival. Over 600 festival-goers were in attendance.

During the spring of 2014, ownership of the Las Vegas Burlesque Festival was transferred to Cory Royer. Cory, at the time, was co-creator of BEAUTEASE Burlesque, and was the owner/director of a very successful “Vermont Burrrlesque Festival.”

2O14, November
The Las Vegas Burlesque Festival found a new home with Boyd Gaming at The Gold Coast Hotel and Casino. During it’s second year the festival expanded to 4 days and included a Sunday morning brunch showcase. Other burlesque events and activities included 2 days of burlesque related classes, a shopping tour, and a trip to the Burlesque Hall of Fame. Over all four days more than 800 attendees enjoyed themselves during the festival’s second year.

It’s awfully nice to make the “trust us” section of the Las Vegas Weekly, one of Southern Nevada’s largest circulating weekly entertainment newspapers.  A recommendation from then goes a long way in this town.  Original founder for the Las Vegas Burlesque Festival, Cha Cha Velour can be found in the cover photo of The Weekly’s review of the festival.
